AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS US ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR BUREAU OF EUROPEAN AND EURASIAN AFFAIRS
Baku, 12 June (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov yesterday has met with US Assistant Secretary for Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Philip Gordon.
Gordon praised current level of bilateral relationship, saying there are great potential for further developing cooperation in various spheres.
He said the United States is interested in peace and stability in the region and stands ready to make contribution to resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The American diplomat also briefed the minister about his recent meetings in Armenia and Georgia.
Expressing satisfaction with the level of cooperation, Mammadyarov said his country is always interested in developing relationship with the United States. The minister expressed assurance bilateral ties will be further developed during the Obama administration.
As to resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Azerbaijani minister stressed importance of UN support.
Mammadyarov and Gordon also discussed regional energy cooperation.
