TRACECA PROJECT LAUNCHED IN BAKU
Baku, June 13 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijan`s capital has today hosted a ceremony to launch TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe Central Asia) project. The event highlighted features of the TRACECA programme established in 1998 to provide ICT assistance to European and Asian countries and stimulate cooperation among participant countries.
Organized by Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Information and Communication technologies, the event brought together experts, representatives of 42 foreign embassies in Baku and government officials, including Ali Abbasov, Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, Mahmud Mammadguliyev, Deputy Foreign Minister and Bruno Pouezat, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan.
Permanent Secretariat of TRACECA was established in March 2000 in Baku, and inaugurated on February 21, 2001. TRACECA has five working groups, covering maritime transport, aviation, road and rail, transport security, and transport infrastructure.
