Bank robber who left invalid number caught
TAIZ, June 15 (Saba) – Police have caught a man who managed, with
the help of a bank worker, to steal YER 14.8 million from the bank
in the Yemeni province of Taiz.
The robber is said to have forged a state-issued ID that had three 3
numbers different from national number on the card.
The state-run 26sep.net reported that the robber, who was not
identified, also forged an order from the Yemen Central Bank in the
name of officials in the province asking the bank to give the sum
for the officials.
Receiving the sum, the robber left a suspended phone number for the
bank's administration.
The robber was arrested after the police, through the phone company
which suspended the phone number, could trace contact numbers before
the number was suspended two years ago.
The police contacted these numbers, asked them about the owner of
the phone number, and then caught the robber.
