S. Korea presents $100 mln soft loan to Yemen



SANA'A, June 15 (Saba) - An understanding memo was signed here on
Monday between Yemen and South Korea, under which the South Korean
government presents a soft loan of $100 million to Yemen for 2009 -
2012 to be repaid over 40 years.

The loan will be devoted for funding and equipping Dental College in
Sana'a University and Collage of Engineering in Aden University and
furnishing and equipping a number of hospitals and health centres in
different governorates in addition to financing electric
transmission lines execution from Hiswa to Khormaksar.

The memo was signed by Minister of Planning and International
Cooperation Abdul-Karim al-Arhabi and South Korean ambassador to
Yemen Won-ho Kwak.

Al-Arhabi and Kwak reviewed the current cooperation aspects between
Yemen and South Korea and means of boosting them to serve the common
plans of the two friendly countries.

The Minister al-Arhabi praised the assistance of the Korean
government to support the development process in Yemen, confirming
Yemen's keenness on strengthening the bilateral cooperation ties
with South Korea.

For his part, the Korean ambassador affirmed his country's willing
on developing fields of the current and future cooperation with
Yemen.
