Yemen, US discuss cooperation
SANA'A, June 15 (Saba) - Yemen and the US discussed here on Monday
several issues related to boosting the cooperation and the US
assistance to Yemen.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Abdul-Karim
al-Arhabi discussed with U.S. ambassador to Yemen Stephen Seche and
the new Country Director of US Agency for International Development
(USAID) Jeff Ashley the plans of future support to Yemen within the
new U.S. administration and the priorities of bilateral cooperation
between the two countries in areas of education, health, economic
development, agriculture, food security and good ruling.
It also discussed the current challenges that deter development in
Yemen and the government's efforts to reduce poverty and improving
the development indicators.
Al-Arhabi welcomed the USAID's official, affirming the government's
keenness on offering all necessary facilities to enable him to
perform his duties.
On the other hand, al-Arhabi held another meeting with the World
Bank's team in charge of reviewing the support program of upgrading
the civil service.
The talks dealt with issues relevant to strengthening cooperation
between Yemen and WB in field of upgrading the civil service,
reviewing the difficulties and challenges which hold back the
reforms in this field as well as the available support from the bank
to speed up the underway work in the civil service upgrading.
