EC project to support SWF launched phase III

SANA'A, June 15 (Saba) - Social Welfare Fund Support Project
launched on Monday an inception workshop of third phase of European
Commission project with 60 participants of SWF cadres and projects
consultants.

SWF support project is aiming to provide technical assistant to SWF,
particularly in the fields of institutional capacities, organization
structure, staff capacities development and training to strengthen
the SWF work mechanism and improvement of living conditions of the
poorest families.

During the workshop, Team Leader of Social Welfare Fund Support
Project Arjen Sterk reviewed what has been achieved by European
Commission Project during 2002-2009 in SWF and future work plan of
project including of introducing the conditional cash transfer
program.

Kathrina Hackstin presented a brief explanation on the conditional
cash transfer scheme which aimed to provide cash transfer to the
children of SWF beneficiaries for enrolment of education process.

Deputy Education Minister for Girls Education Sector Fawzia Numan
affirmed the importance of partnership between SWF support project
and girls education sector to realize the development process in
Yemen.

Numan reviewed the condition cash transfer program provided by
Education Ministry in some governorates and the active results to
increase the girl's enrolment in education process and alleviate
education dropping out.

Deputy SWF executive manager Qasem Khalil praised the effort of
European Commission project to support activities of SWF and
development process in the country, wishing the third phase of the
project to realize the results hoped.
