Yemen approves strategy to benefit from renewable energy

SANA'A, June 16 (Saba)- The cabinet approved in its Tuesday meeting
the renewable energy national strategy project and energy competence
prepared by Ministry of Electricity and Energy in cooperation with
German experts.

The strategy includes a number of components, policies and measures
aiming at optimal use of renewable energy like winds, underground
heat, sun and gases emanating from square waste receptacles.

The strategy defines legal, funding and technical requirements,
institutional preparations and building necessary requirements to
ensure success of the project.

The strategy aims at realizing contribution of renewable energy with
15 percent of the total energy generation by 2025 and increase use
of the energy by the same percent.

The strategy focuses on establishing practical frame opening the
door to private sector to produce alternative energy via independent
producer system.
