SOUTHERN CAUCASIAN AND CASPIAN REGIONS ARE ‘FOCUS OF WORLD ATTENTION’

Baku, June 17 (AzerTAc). “Southern Caucasian and Caspian regions, which are important from the point of view of energy security and geopolitics, are the focus of world attention, Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic said.
Speaking at a conference entitled “The Role of Reforms in Azerbaijan`s Law-Enforcement Bodies and Armed Forces in Euroatlantic Integration”, Kilic said processes taking place in these regions are being closely and attentively observed.
“Ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in the South Caucasus is the key priority of Turkey`s foreign policy.
He said: “Turkey supports settlement of conflicts in the region on the basis of principles of sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of countries. The major challenge for the region is the conflict which began after Armenia`s military aggression against Azerbaijan. As a result of this aggression, Azerbaijan lost 20% of its territory and more than 1 million of its people became refugees.”
On Azerbaijan`s achievements in political, economic and social spheres, Kilic praised President Ilham Aliyev`s “great contribution” in this regard.
