AZERI FM MEETS JAPANESE PREMIER IN TOKYO
Baku, June 17 (AzerTAc). As part of his visit to Japan, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov has met with the country`s Prime Minister Taro Aso.
The talks centered on Azerbaijan-Japan bilateral and multilateral relationship, as well as regional and global issues.
Japanese Premier said his country attaches significant importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. He praised the current level of bilateral political and economic ties.
Touching upon energy cooperation between the two countries, Taro Aso said Japanese companies were participating in Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli and Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan projects. “Japanese government is interested in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan in other areas as well”, Taro Aso said.
Mammadyarov handed over President Ilham Aliyev`s invitation letter to Taro Aso.
He said “relations between Azerbaijan and Japan are at a high level”. He particularly praised the energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Japan.
The Minister noted the two countries share the same position on numerous regional and international issues.
He pointed out Azerbaijan was interested in using Japanese technologies in non-oil sector.
The sides underlined the importance of ensuring peace and security in the South Caucasus and carrying out regional projects.
They also touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Mammadyarov thanked Japan for backing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
