BAKU HOSTS CONFERENCE “THE ROLE OF THE REFORMS CONDUCTED IN LAW ENFORCEMENT BODIES AND ARMED FORCES OF AZERBAIJAN, IN INTEGRATION INTO THE EURO-ATLANTIC SPACE”
Baku, 18 June (AzerTAc). A 2-day conference “The Role of the Reforms Conducted in Law Enforcement Bodies and Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, in Integration into the Euro-Atlantic Space” has ended in Baku in the frame of the Week of the NATO.
In the second day of conference, discussed were the reforms conducted in the Ministry of National Security of Azerbaijan and cooperation with the NATO, the results of fruitful cooperation between the State Frontier Service and the North Atlantic Alliance, the reforms in the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in the context of cooperation with the NATO, questions of cooperation of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with the NATO.
Taleh Sadygov, senior analyst of the Ministry of National Security noticed that aggressive separatism represents danger to power projects in the Caspian basin. Aggressive separatism and its consequences are one of the basic threats for safety of power projects with participation of Azerbaijan. At his words, the researches show that it is necessary to consider a number of factors concerning the safety of large regional power projects. In this sense, it is necessary to remember presence of "uncontrolled zones”, resulted as the actions of aggressive separatism and also "hot points”, Sadygov underlined.
As another probable threat to strategic objects, T. Sadygov produced as an example the activity of terrorist and extremist organizations, including radical groups becoming more active recently. As he noted, reliable protection of power safety and infrastructure is one of the basic priorities in system of national security of Azerbaijan. Underlining importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the NATO in combat against terrorism, exchange of data and experience, improvement of the national legislation, he said that during preparation of the Concept of National Security of Azerbaijan, the working group based on experience which has been saved up in the frame of integration into the Euro-Atlantic space. This experience will be used also in preparation of the Military Doctrine, he emphasized.
At the Conference, also speaking was Colonel Vidadi Askarov, Chief of the International Cooperation and the Euro-Atlantic Integration Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, and Colonel Shahin Mammadov, Deputy Chief of the Staff of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan, who highly praised cooperation with the NATO structures.
As noted, in the short period of its independence, Azerbaijan has undertaken serious steps towards integration to the NATO. Azerbaijan gradually becomes a state making huge contribution to safety in the world. Participating in structure of the international forces, Armed Forces of Azerbaijan have become today a structure, capable to provide safety of the country.
