COE CONFERENCE OF MINISTERS RESPONSIBLE FOR FAMILY AFFAIRS GATHER IN VIENNA

Vienna, 18 June (AzerTAc). The 29th session of the Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Family affairs was held here.
During the conference “Public Policies Supporting the Wish to Have Children: Societal, Economic and Personal Factors”, ministers and other representatives of the Council of Europe member states examined policies and practices of member states concerning the decline in births in Europe as well as family-friendly policies.
The event was also attended by CoE Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Austrian President Heinz Fischer and Federal Minister for Economics and Labour Reinhold Mitterlehner.
Chairperson of Azerbaijan`s State Committee for Family, Women and Children`s Issues Hijran Huseynova delivered a report during the conference.
Huseynova said several laws and programs on family policy were adopted in her country and numerous relevant projects are underway.
She stressed Azerbaijan declared 2008 as the “Year of Youth” and 2009 the “Year of Child”.
Huseynova also underscored the Heydar Aliyev Foundation`s care for children and families in Azerbaijan.
The event participants signed a final declaration.
Azerbaijan`s ambassador to Austria Fuad Ismayilov was also present in the conference.
On the sidelines of the conference, Huseynova met with President of the United Nations Women`s Guild (UNWG) Ann Heard, CoE Deputy Secretary General Maud de Boer-Buquicchio, Director General of Social Cohesion of the Council Alexander Vladychenko and others to discuss prospects for cooperation.
