M: Indian Ocean Countries' conference to discuss development



SANA'A, June 18 (Saba)- Sana'a conference of League of Countries
Overlooking Indiana Ocean (LCOIO)will tackle coordinating efforts
and balanced development in the region and in the 18 member
countries, said Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi.

"The conference being held under current conditions is considered
significant to regional countries and countries overlooking the
Indian Ocean," al-Qirbi said.

The conference will include representatives of member countries from
East Asia, India, Southern Arab Peninsula and Australia, countries
contain population of nearly 2 billion, said foreign minister.

He affirmed that the meetings of the conference, to be commenced
here on June, 20 and last for six days, aim at realizing LCOIO's
goals in cooperation for realizing sustainable growth and creating
joint foundations for economic and regional cooperation.

The conventioneers will discuss trade and economic cooperation
between member countries, an action work plan to the association for
the four years to come, combating piracy, discussion of signing
treaties to enhance and protect investments in the region,
establishing fishing regional locations and enhancing tourism and
trade between the members countries. Issues included in the agenda
will be also discussed.


"What links the member countries is the fishery wealth of the Indian
Ocean and other wealth inside seas, a matter represents foundation
to partnership between the member countries," clarified al-Qirbi.

"This partnership may contribute politically to protect the Indian
Ocean against illegal utilization of its wealth and boosting
relation between countries in economic, investment and different
fields," added al-Qirbi.

Concerning Yemen's benefit from the conference, al-Qirbi said Yemen
hopes via the conference to develop its relations with her partners
of the countries of the league to make us of wealth, especially
fishery wealth.

Yemen also hopes the conference will contribute in attracting
international investments, said minister al-Qirbi.
