Shura Second Deputy Chairperson: Bahrain building diplomatic partnerships that support SDGs
Manama, Aug. 21 (BNA): Dr. Jehad Abdullah Al Fadhel, Second Deputy Chairperson of the Shura Council, received Luigi Di Maio, the newly appointed Special Representative of the European Union (EU) for the Gulf Region.
The second deputy chairperson stressed Bahrain's keenness to consolidate diplomatic international relations that aim at supporting mutual interests, in implementation of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's vision.
Dr. Al Fadhel praised the programmes and strategies implemented by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to consolidate relations and support further cooperation with other countries.
Bahrain is keen on exchanging expertise with other countries and discussing topics of common interest especially in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and facing the challenges of climate change and food security, Dr. Al Fadhel said.
The second deputy noted that Bahrain is witnessing development and progress in various sectors, expressing pride in the growing achievements and successes of the kingdom in the field of human rights, which are recognised regionally and internationally, especially by international organisations and federations.
Dr. Al Fadhel expressed appreciation to the EU for highlighting Bahrain's achievements in the field of human rights, within the 2022 EU Human Rights Reports.
She highlighted that Bahrain continued to implement its plans and strategies to promote and consolidate human rights values and principles.
The EU representative praised the progress and development that Bahrain is witnessing at various levels and stressed the EU’s interest in developing ties with Bahrain and exchanging expertise and experiences.
He praised the role played by the Bahraini parliamentary diplomacy in building ties that contribute to supporting common interests between countries and supports the efforts and endeavors made by countries to continue achieving their SDGs and programmes.
