Two suspected ISI agents arrested in Jaisalmer
Jaipur, June 19 (PTI) Two persons were arrested from
border district of Jaisalmer in India's northern state of
Rajasthan Friday for allegedly supplying vital information on
military locations to Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence
(ISI).
"Suspected ISI agents Morey Khan and Abban Khan have been
arrested and are being brought to the police headquarters here
for interrogation," Additional Director-General of Police
(Intelligence) M K Devrajan told a press conference here.
Morey alias Bhare Khan (33) and Abban (47) are cousins
and residents of Haji-Dale-Khan-ki-Dhani in Khuiyala village
in Jaisalmer district, Devrajan said.
"Morey, who worked as contract labour on a daily wage in
the district forest department, used to talk to a Pak
intelligence officer named Murshid Khan. He visited Rahimyar
Khan town in Pakistan on a 15-day Visa on December 6 last
year," Devrajan said.
"During his visit, he was asked for details of vital
installations, army units, nuclear installations etc," he
said.
The ADG said that Abban, who is unemployed, has been
working for ISI since 2007.
"Abban also visited the same village (Rahimyan Khan ) to
meet his sister who is married there. He was approached by Pak
intelligence agents during his stay there. Since he is a
diabetic patient, he found the extra income provided by them
useful," Devrajan said.
Though Morey and Abban are cousins and residents of the
same village in Jaisalmer district, they did not know about
each other's activity as they operated separately, Devrajan
said.
"Both agents were used by the ISI for getting details
about the army's deployment in various parts of Jaisalmer,
adjoining Pakistan. They used to pass on information about
troop movement, location of army posts, their formation signs,
tactical numbers," he said.
Morey was learnt to have passed on information about a
helipad constructed in a sensitive location. Besides, they
were also directed by their handling officers to collect
details about laying of pipelines, construction of roads,
bridges and infrastructural facilities by the army in the
border areas, he said. PTI YG
