Al-Masri briefs Dutch media on kidnapping crime in Sa'ada
SANA'A, June 20 (Saba) - Interior Minister Mutahar al-Masri briefed
on Saturday the Dutch media representatives on the available initial
information on the crime of kidnapping the medical cadres working in
al-Joumhori Hospital on June 12, in Sa'ada governorate.
Al-Masri affirmed that President Ali Abdullah Saleh closely follows
up the security measures taking the safety of the kidnapped in the
forefront of priorities.
Minister al-Masri made it clear that the information confirmed that
the crime happened in an area under the control of the Houthi
rebels, indicating the police managed to know the direction of the
two cars, the kidnappers' and the car they have kidnapped.
"After the security services found the three dead bodies, a
specialized team was sent to the site and it is now working around
the clock in Sa'ada to track the murderers", al-Masri said.
He added that Interior Ministry has sent an anti-terrorism brigade
to the governorate and the tracking campaign is still non-stop using
helicopters to comb the other neighbouring governorates.
The Minister highlighted the current cooperation between the Yemeni
security bodies and each of the German and Korean security teams
according to a joint mechanism.
Al-Masri did not exclude that Houthi rebels are behind kidnapping
the foreigners as the accident was in an area where Houthi elements
are locating.
He pointed out that there is vagueness in some aspects of the crime
leading to several prospects, indicating that the status of the six
kidnapped foreigners is still unknown.
The Minister reviewed the efforts exerted by the security bodies in
hunting the criminals to find and release the six abducted, pointing
out that the Ministry has announced $ 275,000 reward for any person
gives information leading to the arrest of the kidnappers.
He renewed the damnation to this brutal crime, which is
contradictory with principles of Islam and the noble morals of
Yemeni people, considering this crime as a terrorist act.
Korean teacher and two German nurses were found dead last Monday in
Yemen's province of Saada.
They were among a group of nine foreigners kidnapped in the province
on Friday, June 12.
The abducted included seven Germans including three children, a
Briton engineer and South Korean teacher.
Last Tuesday, the three bodies of the German and Korean women were
transported to the Military Hospital in the capital Sana'a for doing
the necessary procedures and then sending them to their countries.
Germany said last Tuesday al-Qaeda might be behind the kidnappings
and killings.
None has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings and slayings so
far.
