Yemen, WB discuss cooperation in electricity sector



SANA'A, June 20 (Saba)- Prime Minister Ali Mujawar held talks on
Saturday with the team of world bank over relations between Yemen
and the WB in field of development and economic and financial
reforms as well as requirement for developing electricity sector in
the country.

They discussed efforts of the government to tackle current faults in
domains of financial management to make the state budget meets
requirement of the development.

Technical parts of energy sector in the country were discussed.

The head of the WB team voiced readiness of the bank to offer
required technical assistance to support new gas power stations.

Mujawar highlighted level of the cooperation between Yemen and the
WB in enhancing development process in the country, valuing role of
the bank in supporting the nation.

Two weeks ago, the French Total Company set June 30 as the final
deadline for completing the building of Yemen's first gas power
station.

The station, to be run by the al-Jazeerah Oil Services Company, will
start operations in mid July and supply energy at the areas of the
Hadramout Valley and Desert at an initial capacity of 25 megawatts.

It will work under power purchase agreement between the company
working on the station and the Public Electrical Corporation.
