Doha, October 09 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's affirmation that safeguarding the lives of civilians, sparing them the consequences of conflict, and reducing escalation are top priorities for the State of Qatar, which is making all its diplomatic efforts with various concerned parties to achieve this goal.
The newspapers unanimously agreed that Doha was the scene of intense international diplomatic activity on Sunday to push for mediation to stop the escalation in the Palestinian territories and Israel to spare the region from a devastating war. The State of Qatar, through its global diplomatic status, is a platform for dialogue, mediation, and resolving crises peacefully mobilizing regional and international efforts towards saving the situation in the Palestinian territories.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper said that HH the Amir stressed, during a phone call with HE President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, that safeguarding the lives of civilians, sparing them the consequences of conflict, and reducing escalation are top priorities for the State of Qatar, which is making all its diplomatic efforts with various concerned parties to achieve this goal and discussed the developments of the situation in Palestine and ways to de-escalate.
The State of Qatar is watching with concern the escalation of violence between the two sides, stressing the need to exercise the utmost restraint to avoid the region entering into a broader cycle of violence that could have serious repercussions, the paper said.
In line with the State of Qatar's commitment to regional stability and promotion of peace, the communications carried out by Qatari officials with the concerned parties continue as part of regional and international efforts to reduce the escalation. HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani discussed, during his direct communication with a number of his counterparts and senior officials in the Arab region and worldwide, the developments of this crisis and calling for immediate and essential measures to stop the fighting, the paper said.
Al-Sharq concluded by emphasizing that the State of Qatar is making diplomatic efforts to reduce human losses, reiterating that the only way to achieve sustainable peace in the region is by reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue within the framework of the Arab Initiative, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

HE expressed the State of Qatar’s deep concern about the escalation of violence and stressed the need to exercise the utmost restraint. HE affirmed Qatar’s official position calling for a complete and immediate halt to armed confrontations to prevent bloodshed of civilians, as well as emphasizing the firm Qatari position of condemning all forms of targeting civilians, along with its call to protect them from consequences of the conflict.
The newspaper saw that the Qatari diplomatic move to stop the violence and escalation in the Palestinian territories and Israel came since the beginning of the confrontations. Doha had placed responsibilities on all parties to spare the region from a devastating war that would bring killing and destruction. In conclusion, Al-Raya emphasized that Israeli intransigence and international ignorance of the suffering of the oppressed and besieged Palestinian people was the main reason for the events that followed. To find a sustainable peace that all parties can enjoy without exception, Israel must avoid arrogance because it cannot put security and military solutions to bring security to its citizens. The Qatari diplomacy calls for a just solution to the Palestinian cause in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
Under the title "Qatar on the Crisis De-escalation Line", Al-Arab newspaper highlighted the State of Qatar’s continued efforts regarding developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the region. The developments in the Palestinian arena and ways to reduce escalation and achieve calm were the focus of the telephone call received on Sunday by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani from his brother HE President of the sisterly State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas.

For his part, the Palestinian President thanked HH the Amir for his continuous support for the Palestinian issue and the Palestinian people, as well as for Qatar's efforts and unwavering positions regarding the just Palestinian issue, Al-Arab added.

In turn, Al-Watan newspaper said that the State of Qatar has reiterated its call to all parties in the region to cease escalation and work towards achieving calm, putting an end to armed confrontations completely, and on all fronts, in order to prevent the region from sliding into a broader circle of violence.
Under the title "Just Solution to the Palestinian Cause," the newspaper referred to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs which stated that Qatari officials continue their communications with relevant parties as part of regional and international efforts to de-escalate the situation. The exhibition, returning after a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is being held outside its base in Geneva for the first time in its illustrious century-old history.
GIMS Qatar will be hosted every two years in Doha, providing an unrivalled opportunity for brands to present their latest technologies, innovative ideas and concepts, and inspire the next generation, The Peninsula noted.
The country is emerging as a global tourist destination, drawing in millions of visitors and tourists every year. A growing number of people are coming to Qatar for business, tourism and work because of fast-paced economic development over the past two decades. Tourism has been identified as one of five priority sectors integral to diversifying Qatar’s economy and increasing private sector participation, the newspaper added.
The Peninsula concluded by saying that the country sees the involvement of international investors as critical to the development of a tourism industry. Therefore, it has a dedicated Investment Promotions Unit to facilitate foreign investments. And the FIFA World Cup last year was the high point of travel to Qatar, when around 1.5 million people came to Doha from across the globe.
