Secretary-General of Shura Council Meets Speaker of Kuwaiti National Assembly 

 
 
Kuwait, November 02 (QNA) - HE President of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, Secretary-General of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadhala met Thursday with HE Speaker of the National Assembly of the sisterly State of Kuwait Ahmed Al Sadoun.
During the meeting, they discussed the existing parliamentary relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen and develop them, in addition to coordinating common positions on various topics in a way that serves Gulf, Arab and Islamic issues.
The meeting also discussed the latest developments in Gaza and exchanged views on the role of parliaments in supporting the Palestinian cause and stopping the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October.
His Excellency and the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly discussed the efforts made by the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments during the past two years to amend its internal regulations and statute, develop the competencies of secretaries-general, develop a guide for them, and highlight their vital role in the performance of parliaments.
His Excellency also noted that the association's periodic meetings are now being held on a regular basis, and are witnessing an increase in the volume of participation, pointing to the great success that accompanied the organization of the association's 10th conference in the State of Qatar last September.
On the other hand, the President of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments touched on the association’s interaction with various international events and issues, its active participation in international parliamentary forums and platforms, and its status of an observer member obtained in a number of parliamentary organizations, including the Arab Parliament and the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC).
For his part, the Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly praised the association and its active presence and interaction with various issues of Arab and Islamic interest, considering the association a platform for the Arab voice. He also commended the statements it issues and its political role, announcing the establishment of a new, independent building for the association in the future, as its headquarters is currently located in the National Assembly building.
HE President of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments, Secretary-General of the Shura Council Ahmed bin Nasser Al Fadhala also met separately today with HE Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Muhammad Barak Al Mutair and HE Secretary-General of the National Assembly Khalid Saad Abu Salib.
During the two meetings, the existing parliamentary relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them were discussed, in addition to discussing a number of topics of common interest, especially with regard to the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments.
