Oil Minister attends Pre-COP28

Abu Dhabi, Oct. 30 (BNA): Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Dinah, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, participated in the Pre-Ministerial Conference (Pre-COP) in preparation for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
The conference, which will be hosted by the UAE on November 30-December 12, aims at achieving positive results in action on the environment, climate security, and sustainable development goals.
The minister emphasised the importance of Pre-COP in preparing for COP28, expressing Bahrain’s pride in the UAE's capabilities in hosting international conferences and forums on a global scale. He affirmed Bahrain’s full support for the UAE in hosting COP28.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to addressing climate change challenges, aiming for zero neutrality by 2060 and doubling the number of trees, he said.
The kingdom is aiming at a fourfold increase in the numbers of mangrove trees by 2035 and also developing policies and legislation to regulate environmental protection and preserve resources, the minister added.
