Bahrain, Saudi Arabia discuss cooperation in statistics

Manama, Oct. 30 (BNA): Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) Chief Executive, Mohammed Ali Al Qaed met Saudi Arabia General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) President, Dr. Fahd AlDossari on the sidelines of the 9th Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) Global Conference.

 

The two sides discussed areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries in the statistics field.

 

Al Qaed expressed his appreciation to Dr. Al Dossari for his keynote speech during the opening ceremony of the conference, noting that the event addressed the mechanisms employed in official statistics and the importance of exchanging statistical and descriptive data. He underscored the value and impact of Dr. Al Dossari’s speech in enriching the conference.

 

Both parties discussed joint coordination, highlighting achievements in the field of statistics, especially with the conduction of national surveys and researches.

 

Al Qaed showcased Bahrain's accomplishments in conducting population censuses over the years, including its success in utilizing administrative records for the 2020 census, despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. He expressed the iGA’s readiness to share this experience and the factors which led to its success with their counterparts at GASTAT.

 

Efforts in the area of statistical media and marketing were also discussed during the meeting in which Saudi Arabia's distinguished experience in this field were showcased, and Dr. Al Dossari welcomed the opportunity to share KSA’s knowledge with the Kingdom of Bahrain.

 

They also discussed cooperation in hosting statistics events on both the regional and international levels, enhancing awareness of the latest developments in the industry, and enhancing the positions of the two countries in various arenas.

 

Both parties emphasised the importance of holding such bilateral meetings and expressed their aspirations for continued cooperation and alignment of plans and strategies aimed at enhancing  national initiatives.
