Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, October 30 (QNA) - In their Monday editorials, Qatari newspapers highlighted several topics on both the local and Arab front. Most notable was HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meeting on Sunday with HE Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Najib Mikati, on the occasion of his visit to the country, to enhance Qatar's ongoing support for the Lebanese Republic and its people.
The newspapers also praised Qatar's relentless diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Gaza Strip, opening humanitarian corridors to facilitate aid to Gaza and secure the prompt release of hostages. However, the papers simultaneously expressed concerns over the alarming escalation of Israeli aggression on Gaza, which has been ongoing for more than three weeks, intensifying recently with the initiation of ground operations.
Al-Arab newspaper said in its editorial that the diplomatic efforts made by the State of Qatar to continue de-escalation in the Gaza Strip by opening humanitarian corridors for aid, releasing the hostages as quickly as possible whether through diplomatic movements and communications, or through the meeting of numerous politicians and diplomats to discuss regional developments.
The newspaper highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meeting with HE Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Najib Mikati and the accompanying delegation. The meeting discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and the region at large.
Al-Arab also noted the meeting between HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and HE Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon. During the meeting, His Excellency stressed the need to work on an immediate ceasefire and to combine regional and international efforts to reduce the violence and the cycle of conflict in the region, which will have serious consequences if it expands.
Al-Arab concluded its editorial by stating that while Qatar continues its efforts in coordinating positions to reduce the current escalation against the defenseless Palestinian people and protect civilian lives, its humanitarian initiatives continue in parallel with diplomatic efforts. So far, Qatar has dispatched assistance amounting to 124 tons across three aircraft, reflecting the state's commitment to supporting the Palestinian brothers during these challenging humanitarian circumstances.
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper began its editorial by highlighting HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meeting on Sunday with HE Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Najib Mikati, on the occasion of his visit to the country. The meeting underscored Qatar's continuous support for the Lebanese Republic and its people, as well as the state's efforts to prevent Lebanon from being dragged into regional conflicts.
The newspaper affirmed that Qatar is diligently working through diplomatic channels to de-escalate tensions and prevent the region from spiraling into an uncontrollable cycle of violence. In this context, Mikati's visit to Doha aims to coordinate joint efforts towards a ceasefire.
Al-Sharq also highlighted HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani's remarks during his meeting with HE Caretaker Prime Minister of the Republic of Lebanon Najib Mikati, where HE emphasized the need to work on an immediate ceasefire and to combine regional and international efforts to reduce the violence and the cycle of conflict in the region, which will have serious consequences if it expands. His Excellency also reaffirmed the State of Qatar's continuous support for the Republic of Lebanon and its brotherly people and all efforts aimed at the unity, security, and stability of the country.
Al-Sharq concluded by stating that the State of Qatar renews its call to all parties to de-escalate tensions, aiming for a complete ceasefire, and urges against plunging the region into new conflicts it cannot bear.

Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial that the dangerous escalation of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza for more than 3 weeks now, and its intensification in recent days with the start of ground operations in the besieged Strip, threatens a serious escalation on multiple fronts. The situation in Gaza has always been on the brink of explosion due to Israel's deliberate starvation and comprehensive collective punishment that has affected all the residents of the Gaza Strip.
The newspaper also highlighted Qatar's clear stance, which calls for an immediate ceasefire, the protection of civilians and the seriousness of the expansion of violence and the scope of conflict in the region, which would have dire consequences if it continues to escalate. This was emphasized during the meetings and phone calls conducted by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, with a number of international officials. Qatar firmly rejects indiscriminate bombing in Gaza and any attempts to forcibly displace its besieged population.
Al-Raya stressed the need for relief convoys and humanitarian aid to enter Gaza Strip to aid the Palestinians trapped under the bombardment, and urged the international community to swiftly respond to the United Nations General Assembly's resolution to achieve a humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This can only be accomplished through the coordination of international and regional efforts to halt the aggression on Gaza, and working earnestly towards achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
Under the headline "Unstoppable Massacres", Al-Watan said that the Palestinian Civil Defense announced an increase in the number of Palestinian martyrs during the communication and internet blackout in Gaza Strip, which reveals the extent of the brutal massacres committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people.
The statements made by Israeli officials regarding the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the recent Arab resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, the delivery of aid to the citizens, lifting the blockade and allowing for a humanitarian ceasefire to enable the entry of the aid, are evidence that the occupying state does not pay any attention to the international community. The Israeli Foreign Minister described the decision as despicable and stated that Israel refuses to cease fire. The Israeli Permanent Representative to the United Nations also dismissed the General Assembly's resolution as meaningless for Israel, the newspaper noted.
This clear disrespect for the United Nations demonstrates the arrogance and audacity of the occupation, which does not value the international community. This arrogance and audacity are attributed to the unequivocal US support for the occupying state, Al-Watan concluded.
English news paper The Peninsula noted in its editorial the efforts of Qatar for ceasefire and cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip. The country voiced concern over the Israeli ground incursion into the Gaza and called it a dangerous development that would have devastating security and humanitarian impacts, especially on the safety of civilians and hostages.
Under the title "Efforts to End Bloodshed in Gaza", the newspaper said that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani met HE Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres in Doha on Saturday. They discussed developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and Israel and ways for de-escalation. HE the Prime Minister called on the international community to move quickly to respond to the decision of the United Nations General Assembly to reach a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip.
Qatar has stressed commitment to continue diplomatic efforts to find a solution to end the bloodshed of the Palestinians. HE Permanent Representative of Qatar to the UN Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, speaking during the UN General Assembly’s tenth emergency session, said Qatar reiterates its call on all parties to de-escalate the situation, attain a full ceasefire, immediately release all prisoners especially the civilians, ensure delivery of urgent assistance into the Gaza, and open safe corridors that allow entry of humanitarian assistance, The Peninsula said.
The Arab League condemned the violation of the principles of international humanitarian law in the wake of the Israeli retaliatory war that targets the civilian population. The League said that such a war primarily aims to alter the demographic map of the entire Gaza Strip, The Peninsula said. (QNA)
