Ambassador of Korea to QNA: President of the Republic of Korea's Visit to Qatar Showcases Two Countries' Robust Relationship

Doha, October 24 (QNA) - HE Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the State of Qatar Joon-Ho Lee affirmed that the state visit HE President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol will pay to Qatar showcases the two countries' robust relationship, and will give considerable impetus to develop bilateral cooperation in various fields.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974, the Republic of Korea and the State of Qatar have developed a solid collaboration, particularly in the energy and construction sectors, noting that "Qatar is the largest LNG exporter to Korea, significantly contributing to the country's energy security."
Korean businesses have taken part in Qatar's LNG shipbuilding project, HE said, adding that currently the two countries are accelerating cooperation in solar power and other renewable energy.
HE underlined that as the two countries' partnership celebrates its 50th anniversary next year, Korea and Qatar are stepping up collaboration into new areas such as healthcare, smart agriculture and high technology. "Soon to open in Lusail, the Korean Medical Center staffed by Korean physicians will demonstrate the two nations' medical cooperation. And leading Korean food companies are collaborating with Qatar on its smart farm projects to support food security of the country," HE added.
During the Korean President's visit, many important Memorandums of Understandings will be signed highlighting the strengthening and expanding relations between Qatar and Korea, HE the Korean Ambassador said, adding "We will also hold a Korea-Qatar business forum, where significant enterprises from both countries will gather to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation."
HE the Ambassador stressed that the State of Qatar is a key economic and strategic partner for Korea, expressing confidence that the Korean President's visit will give considerable impetus to further develop relations between the two countries.
HE the Ambassador also noted another aspect of the evolving relations between the two countries, as he stressed that a growing number of Koreans are traveling to Qatar following the highly regarded FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. This will result in greater cultural exchange in the near future, while the 50th anniversary of the two countries' relations next year will be the perfect moment to deepen cultural exchange between them.
