Doha, October 22 (QNA) - In their editorials Sunday, Qatari newspapers highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in Cairo Summit for Pece which was held on Saturday.
The newspapers emphasized that HH the Amir's participation in the summit reaffirms the State of Qatar's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and keeping it a top priority in its international endeavors.
They underscored that the State of Qatar has played a pivotal and significant role over the years in relation to the Palestinian cause. This role is evident through the economic and humanitarian support it has provided and continues to provide to the Palestinian people. They also noted that Qatari diplomatic efforts have not ceased in keeping up with the grave developments taking place in the occupied Palestinian territories. This includes high-level communications with various regional and global officials to coordinate responses to these developments.
Under the headline "International Appreciation for Qatar's Mediation Efforts," Al Sharq newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in Cairo Summit for Pece for Pece is a reaffirmation of the State of Qatar's firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause. Qatar is actively contributing to all international efforts aimed at de-escalation, preventing the targeting of civilians, and ensuring compliance with international laws and human rights.
The newspaper further added that the State of Qatar, in collaboration with regional and international partners, is working to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of humanitarian aid, relief supplies, and basic services, as well as the restoration of electricity and water and unobstructed delivery of fuel, food, and medicine to all parts of Gaza.
The paper stressed that the State of Qatar continues to coordinate with the United States and international partners to secure the release of prisoners and reduce tensions in the Gaza Strip. Doha has succeeded in mediating the release of two American citizens from Gaza, for which the White House expressed its gratitude, the paper said, pointing out that US Secretary of State Antony Antony Blinken appreciated Qatar for its assistance and highlighted Washington's appreciation for Qatar's roles in de-escalation and prisoner releases.
UN Secretary-General also expressed his thanks and gratitude for the efforts of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani in helping to secure the release of the two American citizens from the Gaza Strip.
Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar continues its positive role in conflict resolution and de-escalation, based on its belief in preventive diplomacy, dialogue, and mediation that form the bedrock of its foreign policy strategy and priorities. This record solidifies Qatar's position as a reliable and successful mediator, both regionally and internationally, as Qatar's efforts have contributed to de-escalation and the preservation of international peace and security.
In the same context, Al-Watan newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with Their Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses Heads of State and Heads of Delegations, participated in Cairo Summit for Pece, which was held Saturday in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt.
In its editorial titled "Steadfast Position," the newspaper said that HH the Amir's participation in the Summit reaffirms the State of Qatar's unwavering commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause and keeping it a top priority in its international endeavors.
The paper pointed out that the State of Qatar has also shouldered Palestinian people's legitimate aspirations and their right to establish their state on their soil, with its capital in the holy city of Jerusalem, in every international forum. Qatar has also spared no effort in reminding the world of the justice of the Palestinian cause and the immense injustice and oppression inflicted on our Palestinian brethren by Israeli occupation which has killed them, stolen their land, and displaced them.
In conclusion, Al-Watan underlined that the people of Gaza are living extremely difficult conditions due to the ongoing Israeli siege and attacks that destroy water and electricity supplies, target institutions and buildings, and undermine the very essentials of life. The occupation has turned dozens, if not hundreds, of homes in Gaza into piles of rubble and destruction. It is, therefore, vital for the international community to work towards an immediate ceasefire and ending the war that has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent Palestinians, including children, women, and elderly. 
 
Al-Raya newspaper said in its editorial titled "Qatar's Noble Stance in Supporting Palestinian Cause" that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's participation in the Cairo Summit for Peace, which was held Saturday in Cairo, reaffirmed Qatar's steadfast and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, maintaining it as a top priority in its international efforts. Qatar has played a pivotal and significant role over the years concerning the Palestinian cause, offering both economic and humanitarian support to the Palestinian people.
The Palestinian cause and its support represent the central and most important axis in HH the Amir's speeches and participation on the international stage, the paper said, pointing out that HH's speeches address the conscience of the world regarding the developments in the Palestinian arena and the rights of the Palestinian people, which remain a prominent aspect of all HH's speeches in both international and regional forums. Qatar's commendable positions are rooted in the principles and humanitarian values that support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and peaceful coexistence, it added.
Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the State of Qatar has consistently renewed its unwavering support for sincere efforts to reach a settlement for the Palestinian cause and achieve peace in the Middle East. It emphasized that the success of any initiative to find a just solution to the Palestinian cause requires adherence to international law, United Nations resolutions, agreed-upon references, the principle of land for peace, the Arab Peace Initiative and that this should be achieved through negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.
Al-Arab newspaper said in its editorial that Qatari diplomatic efforts have not ceased to keep pace with the critical developments occurring in the occupied Palestinian territories, including contacts that took place at the highest levels and with various officials in the region and worldwide in order to coordinate regarding these developments. The latest of these efforts was the participation of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with Their Majesties, Excellencies, and Highnesses Heads of State and Heads of Delegations, in Cairo Summit for Peace, held Saturday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani received a phone call on Saturday from HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken. This call was part of Qatar's efforts to monitor the situation in the Palestinian territories and to continue coordinating with various parties, including the United States and international partners, to secure the release of prisoners and reduce tensions in Gaza. The US Secretary of State expressed his gratitude to Qatar for its efforts in securing the release of two American citizens from the Gaza Strip, the newspaper noted.
Al-Arab concluded by saying that this comes at a time when the State of Qatar firmly rejects any attempts at the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from Gaza. Qatar also calls for lifting the siege on the Gaza Strip, ensuring full protection for civilians and upholding international law and humanitarian law.
In another matter, The Peninsula newspaper said in its editorial that Qatar’s sports season known for delivering top-notch action over the years is in full swing with many international and domestic competitions being held in Doha – famous as the world’s sports hub. With Qatar Masters Open Chess Championship concluding on Friday, the country is currently hosting the Asian Men’s Handball Qualification for next year’s Paris Olympics.
Under the title "Qatar’s sports season in full swing", the newspaper said that all eyes of the global chess fraternity were on the Lusail Multipurpose Hall, which hosted the Qatar Masters from October 10 to 20 with almost all the big names of the sport competing for top honours in the $120,000 tournament. Uzbek grandmaster Nodirbek Yakubboev clinched the coveted title with World No.1.
The picturesque Doha Golf Club will be home to elite golfers who are set to take part in the 26th edition of the popular DP World Tour (European Tour) from October 26 to 29, The Peninsula noted.
After hosting a successful Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix earlier this month, Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) and state-of-the-art Lusail International are now gearing up to host the MotoGP Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar,  which will be held from November 17 to 19. Qatar is also ready to host another edition of the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy with the participation of 17 countries on November 3 and 4, the newspaper said.
The domestic sports scene is also witnessing thrilling action with Expo Stars League and the Ooredoo Cup football competitions reaching crucial stages. Preparation of Qatar football team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 is also gaining momentum. Al Annabi have recently featured in a four-nation tournament in Jordan where they finished runners-up, the paper added.
In conclusion, The Peninsula said that the busy horse racing and show jumping seasons which started earlier this month have also produced thrilling action along with other sports. The ongoing season will also see Qatar’s first-ever women’s basketball league which is scheduled to be held from November 6, 2023 to February 15, 2024. (QNA)
