"Dialogue of Paper" Exhibition to Open November 25 as Part of Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture
Doha, November 15 (QNA) - The "Dialogue of Paper" exhibition will open on Nov. 25 in Jakarta as part of the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture.
The Years of Culture initiative said that the exhibition reflects the depth of the shared cultural relations between Qatar and Indonesia.
The exhibition will be held at the Taman Ismail Marzuki from Nov. 25 to Dec. 16. It will explore the relationship between the two countries through the practice of papermaking.
The "Dialogue of Paper" exhibition will feature works by Qatari artist Yousef Ahmad and Indonesian artist Widi Pangestu.
The exhibition came about with the artistic curation by Senior Museums Expert at the Years of Culture initiative Dr. Aisha Al Misnad. It showcases the outcomes of the collaborative workshop held in Qatar that saw Yousef Ahmad and Widi Pangestu focus on the unique natural elements of Qatar and Indonesia.
This cooperation included combining palm tree pulp from Qatar with abaca pulp and mulberry tree pulp from Indonesia that resulted in 36 artworks that will be displayed in one of Taman Ismail Marzuki's galleries.
Al Misnad said that the concept of the "Dialogue of Paper" exhibition came to light after the Qatar-Japan Year of Culture partnership and that the Years of Culture initiative is pleased to welcome Pangestu in Doha to attend the workshops alongside Youssef Ahmed.
The artworks explore the themes of fulfillment and emptiness, the differences and similarities between the Qatari and Indonesian cultures and the power of dialogue through joint creativity. The exhibition reflects the deep relations between Qatar and Indonesia by transcending geographical borders through art, Al Misnad added.
Artists Yousef Ahmad and Widi Pangestu will also hold a free-entry public symposium on the sidelines of the exhibition. (QNA)
