Political Affairs Undersecretary meets Special Envoy of the Chinese Government
Manama, Nov. 17 (BNA): Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Political Affairs Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, today met Zhai Jun, the Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue, on the sidelines of the 19th edition of the Manama Dialogue.
The two sides reviewed areas of cooperation and the robust strategic partnership between Bahrain and China.
They also discussed a number of regional and global issues of common interest, within the framework of the two countries’ keenness to support the UN Security Council’s Resolution2712 calling for urgent and extended humanitarian pauses and corridors through the Gaza Strip.
They stressed that the resolution is the first step towards reaching a permanent ceasefire and resuming the peace process in the region, in a way that would fulfill the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the two-state solution.
