Qatar Participates in 4th Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul

Istanbul, November 18 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated in the 4th Bosphorus Summit which was held in the Turkish city of Istanbul, under the slogan "Navigating the next century: challenges and promises." A delegation headed by HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani represented the State of Qatar in the summit. In his speech, HE the Minister of Commerce and Industry said the summit is one of the most important global platforms that brings together leaders, experts, and those interested to exchange opinions and anticipate future prospects in various fields. It also represents an important international platform for enhancing cooperation and sharing best practices with the aim of achieving global economy's stability and prosperity. His Excellency stated that the current session of the summit is held at a time when the world is facing various challenges that have greatly affected the performance of the global economy, most notably the food security crisis, the phenomenon of climate change, and other challenges. He pointed out that Qatar's participation in the summit reflects its keenness to establish frameworks of integrated strategic cooperation with various countries of the world and supporting efforts to achieve a sustainable global economy by working to build new global partnerships that support international multilateral cooperation. In this regard, he also stressed the importance of this summit and its role in adopting visions and perceptions that enable countries' economies to develop in a way that allows them to face the pressing challenges they face today. During his speech, His Excellency touched on the initiatives launched by the State of Qatar within its national vision 2030 to benefit from the great advancements in the field of science and technology to create a better future. Over the past two decades, the country has witnessed a remarkable development in infrastructure and significant growth in various industries, which has enabled it to becoming one of the strongest economies in the world, he added. In line with the government's vision to make the State of Qatar a hub for digital innovation, many initiatives have been launched in various sectors with the aim of promoting technological development and increasing its contribution to growth and sustainability, he noted. The State of Qatar has paid great attention to electronic information security and cybersecurity, His Excellency said. At the local level, Qatar established the National Cyber Security Agency. At the global level, it adheres to international standards and continues its efforts to enhance global cooperation as an active member of the Global Cybersecurity Forum, he added. HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani concluded his speech by wishing the summit success and hoping that its outcomes will contribute to deepening economic and trade cooperation between the participating countries in a way that serves the process of joint work. The summit's two-day sessions and seminars addressed a number of important topics and issues, including navigating the next century, climate and the green economy, conflict resolution, the Arab-Turkish dialogue, the Belt Road, banking and financial services, the issue of defense industries and cybersecurity, infrastructure and urbanization investments, international health and health law, access to global markets and trade zones, the driving force of artificial intelligence in the digital race, and capital markets. In addition to these topics, the summit discussed the impact of the global climate crisis on the agricultural and food sector, the future of working life by redefining real estate investments, international journalism, the future of professional sports, globalization in higher education, and the role of women in the economy.
