NSSA CEO affirms 55% completion of Al Munther satellite

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Aseeri, CEO of the National Space Science Authority (NSSA), affirmed that Al Munther, the first Bahraini satellite, is considered an incentive for innovation and a source of support to develop scientific research outcomes.

 

Dr. Al Aseeri explained that the Bahrain Space Team is working on the qualification and testing phase of the satellite and its locally-made payloads, with the completion rate reaching 55%.

 

He added that Al Munther is expected to be launched next year, expressing his pride in the efforts of the Bahrain Space Team, who represent leading national experts in the space sector.

 

NSSA CEO noted that Al Munther's designed and constructed by the Bahraini team and it is the first of its kind in the Middle East to employ Algorithms in analysing space images, creating a quantum leap in the space economy.

 

Al Munther also is equipped with advanced technologies in cyber security for maintaining the privacy of satellites, making Bahrain a special example in this field.

 

Dr. Al Aseeri added that Al Munther is one of the most important initiatives of the NSSA’s strategic plan, which will contribute to placing Bahrain among the ranks of the developed countries in the field of space sciences.
