Sustainable Development Minister meets FCCIB President

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Noor bint Ali Al Khulaif, Minister of Sustainable Development, met with Jean-Christophe Durand, Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bahrain (FCCIB).

 

Jamal Mohammed Fakhroo, Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) was present.

 

Officials from leading institutions including KPMG Bahrain, BNP Paribas Bank, Fives Services Gulf WLL, Yousef Khalil Almoayyed & Sons, Majid Al Futtaim Group- Carrefour, International for Electrical Engineering (IEE), Gulf House Engineering (GHE), and SAFEER (Saudi French for Energy Efficiency & Renewable), and a number of members of the Chamber attended the meeting.

 

The minister reviewed Bahrain’s efforts at achieving sustainability in various developmental, economic, environmental, and social sectors.

 

She affirmed Bahrain-France relations in various sectors, highlighting the role of commerce chambers in supporting the institutions' efforts to achieve sustainable development.

 

Al Khulaif emphasised Bahrain's keenness to diversify its economy through strengthening partnerships with the private sector and promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, in accordance with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.

 

The minister commended the initiatives of institutions aimed at achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), which included developing strategies for implementing the best environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) practices, and implementing initiatives that align with the commitment to achieve zero carbon footprints and adopt renewable energy sources.

 

Durand praised Bahrain's efforts toward achieving SDGs, emphasizing the importance of continuing to unite efforts in various sectors.

 

The officials affirmed that the kingdom's infrastructure and laws and regulations enhance the environment that attracts investments and projects.
