Interior Minister receives UK House of Lords delegation

Manama, Nov. 19 (BNA): Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, received a British House of Lords delegation.

Bahraini Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chief of Public Security, Lieutenant-General Tariq Al Hassan, and Director-General of Media and Security Culture, Brigadier Mohammed bin Diana, attended.

The Interior Minister welcomed the delegation members in Bahrain to participate in the 19th edition of the Manama Dialogue, in which the summit reviewed strategic regional and global topics, including peaceful coexistence and countering extremism. He hailed ties between the two countries and their role in reinforcing regional security.

The Interior Minister briefed the delegation about the efforts of the Interior Ministry to protect security and general safety, stressing the significance of cooperation, coordination and exchanging security expertise.

He highlighted the security and community initiatives and programmes, including the alternative sanctions and open prisons programme to promote community security. He noted that human rights are part of the Bahraini society's culture and are reinforced by the support and vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Both sides reviewed security cooperation and topics to contribute to regional stability.
