Civil Defence participates in Arab Partnership Meeting for Disaster Risk Reduction

Cairo, Nov. 22 (BNA): A delegation from the Crisis and Disaster Management Directorate at the General Directorate of Civil Defence participated in the Ninth Arab Partnership Meeting for Disaster Risk Reduction of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).

The delegation reviewed Bahrain’s progress in implementing the Rabat Declaration and the Priority Action Plan 2021-2024 to implement the Sendai Framework (SF) for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Arab region, which included progress in modernising the National Risk Register, unifying the concept among the countries institutions through the National Emergency Strategy, and activating and sustaining shelters. It also shed light on the successes of the Government of Bahrain during the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

 The meeting highlighted the launch of the National Civil Protection Platform, which aims to enhance the public awareness on safety procedures and the launch of Volunteer Project in the civil defence service.
