More Jewish families flee Yemen
AMRAN, June 22 (Saba) - Jewish families in Yemen continue to flee
the country amid claims of intimidation, this time three families
are said to have arrived in Israel.
Informed sources said that three Jewish families of those living in
Yemen's northern province of Amran including the family of Moshe
Yaish al-Nahari, who was killed in December, have said they were now
in Israel.
Shukr al-Nahari, a fresh husband, Haroon Amran al-Nahari along with
his nine-member family and the five-member family of Ali al-Jaradi
have already landed in Israel.
In February, a Jewish family secretly fled to Israel after
unidentified people threw a bomb at their home in Amran province.
The father also complained of further harassment and intimidation
exercised against his family.
In recent years, amid Jews' persistent complaints of harassment, the
Yemeni government relocated some Jewish families to Sana'a providing
them with appropriate residential complexes and necessary security.
However, some families rejected to move to the capital.
On Sunday, the Appeal court in Amran sentenced the killer of Jew
Moshe Yaish al-Nahari to death, a verdict that came after a court
earlier ruled the murderer was unstable but he would pay a fine of $
27000 in blood money for the victim's family.
The killer Abdul Aziz al-Abdi, 40, a retired pilot, was reported
suffering from a mental illness and under the court's ruling he
would be admitted to a psychiatric service.
The verdict was rejected by the Jewish family as unfair and the
family vowed to pursue justice.
