Assistant Undersecretary of Industrial Development reviews Smart Factories initiative

Shenzhen, Nov. 26 (BNA): Dr. Khaled Fahad Alalawi, Assistant Undersecretary of Industrial Development at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, participated in the 7th International Innovative & Entrepreneurial Competition Conference, in Shenzhen, China.

 

He highlighted the (Smart Factories) initiative and its role in the field of digital transformation and supporting the transformation of the industrial sector towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution by adopting the latest digital solutions.

 

He affirmed Bahrain’s interest in developing the industrial sector and its capabilities to achieve its goals, especially those on strengthening national industries and increasing their efficiency and global competitiveness, as it supports the Kingdom’s development process.

 

Al Alawi also highlighted the contributions of the industry sector in providing more opportunities for citizens, in line with the objectives of the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022-2026), which seeks to create an advanced and sustainable industry based on innovative and advanced initiatives.

 

Al Alawi said that the Ministry, along with its partners in the (Smart Factories) initiative, began introducing factories to the field evaluation mechanism through field visits conducted by the team.

 

He added that they launched training programmes for accredited assessors to measure the extent of digital maturity of factories based on the adoption of the (SIRI) index, which It is considered the most advanced  global standard for measuring the level of factories.

 

He noted that this open dialogue with Chinese institutions aims to discuss more ways of cooperation to provide various options of automation solutions to upgrade production lines and increase their efficiency.
