Saudi Arabia Carries out Largest International Promotional Campaign in the People's Republic of China
Shanghai, November 26, 2023, SPA -- The Saudi Tourism Authority's first international promotional campaign, between November 17 and 23, 2023, was carried out in the People's Republic of China with the aim of inviting Chinese people to explore the rich and diverse tourist destinations, packages and experiences in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It was the largest promotional campaign, including the Saudi Market Festival, which celebrates heritage, culture and nature.
The launch of the campaign took place at the Bund Waterfront in Shanghai.
The festival received more than 80,000 visitors, the campaign has reached 500 million Chinese, and bookings to the Kingdom increased by 277%.
The campaign consisted also of a series of visual and audio presentations highlighting natural and historical sites, cultural and recreational events and activities in the Kingdom.
On this occasion, Saudi Tourism Authority CEO and Board Member Fahd Hamid Al-Din said: “The People’s Republic of China is one of the most important strategic target markets, as it is one of the largest sources of tourists. The Kingdom aims to attract five million Chinese tourists by 2030. This year, the Kingdom received more than 100,000 visitors from China, and we are pleased to launch this comprehensive and largest promotional campaign ever to welcome tourists from the People’s Republic of China and invite them to enjoy unique destinations, inspiring tourist experiences, Saudi hospitality, and rich and authentic culture.”
President of Asia Pacific Markets at Saudi Tourism Authority Alhasan Aldabbagh said: “We hope, through this promotional campaign, to inspire more Chinese tourists to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially after the facilities provided for issuing the new electronic tourist visa and visa on arrival, and China’s adoption of Saudi Arabia as a major destination”, and after the improved air connectivity between the two countries.
At the same time, he said, "we are also working with our partners from the private sector to increase the number of products offered to tourists from China, which so far reached 160, in addition to providing payment solutions specifically for tourists from China, such as Union Pay and AliPay+".
All promotional materials were telecast on Chinese National Television and some of the most important digital platforms in the People’s Republic of China, such as Ctrip, Huawei, Mafengwo and Tencent, and were also published on the page dedicated to China on the “Visit Saudi” platform, and all social media accounts of the Saudi Tourism Authority.
