Increased Production of Hothouse Vegetables in DPRK

Pyongyang, December 6 (KCNA) -- In the DPRK, the greenhouse vegetable production has been put on a more scientific and intensive basis to bring about good results.

Officials of the Agricultural Commission and agricultural guidance organs at all levels are meticulously organizing the work with the main emphasis on increasing the per-hectare yield by securing high-yielding vegetable seeds and introducing advanced hothouse vegetable cultivation techniques and methods.

Agricultural workers in Pyongyang Municipality are boosting the output of greenhouse vegetables, mindful that they are in charge of the supply of vegetables to citizens of the capital.

In South Phyongan Province, they have pushed ahead with the production of vegetables according to schedule, applying new cultivation techniques and making soil fertile.

North Phyongan Province has increased the number of vegetable varieties with high nutritive value and high productivity and fertilized and tended them in a scientific and technological way to suit the specific conditions of the greenhouses.

North Hwanghae Province, Nampho Municipality and other regions have produced various hothouse vegetables, making effective use of solar heat. -0-
