Abu Dhabi, Dec. 3 (BNA): Dr. Jalila bint Sayed Jawad Hassan, the Minister of Health, participated in a panel discussion on "Transforming Health Systems" at Health Day and the first ministerial meeting on health and climate, as part of COP28 in the United Arab Emirates.

The minister emphasised the kingdom's commitment to improving the health system's efficiency and quality, highlighting the ongoing efforts to establish a sustainable, high-quality health system.

Bahrain is pursuing the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060 through initiatives like emission reduction, carbon removal, energy efficiency enhancement, and afforestation, she said.

The Ministry of Health is implementing strategies like the Arab Strategy for Health and Environment, International Health Regulations, and One Health approach to promote resilience and environmental sustainability, while also implementing the World Health Organisation's (WHO) operational framework, she added.

The Minister of Health expressed appreciation to the UAE for hosting the summit and the World Health Organisation, Wellcome Trust Foundation, and other partners for organising the first ministerial meeting on climate and health.

The COP28 summit, hosted by the UAE, aims to unify global efforts on climate action, achieve tangible progress, and drive international efforts to implement pledges and commitments to combat climate change.
