Shura Chairman participates in COP28 Parliamentary Meeting

Dubai, Dec. 6 (BNA): Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council, participated in the Parliamentary Meeting at the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

Al Saleh commended the United Arab Emirates’ efforts in supporting development projects that contribute to addressing the challenges of climate change by hosting the successful COP28 conference.

He highlighted that the meeting, held in cooperation between the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the UAE's Federal National Council, underlines the importance of integrating joint action between parliaments and governments and ensuring the sustainability of legislation that is compatible with global climate and environmental developments.

Al Saleh said that the National Action Plan, Blueprint Bahrain, announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to achieve carbon neutrality, the $750 million technology fund, and the "Safaa" platform are extensions of the efforts made by the Kingdom to address climate change, and affirm Bahrain’s commitment to climate security.

He praised the efforts of the Government of Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to develop plans and programmes that support climate security and advance green economic growth, which consolidates Bahrain's efforts in establishing legislative and executive frameworks and systems to address climate change.

The speaker emphasised Barain's keenness to cooperate with parliaments across the globe, strengthen parliamentary relations, and develop legislative expertise.
