Deputy Mayor of Tashkent: Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani ACE Award Plays Important Role in Building Integrity, Transparency

Tashkent, December 19 (QNA) - HE Deputy Mayor of Tashkent and Head of Investment and Foreign Trade Department in the Republic of Uzbekistan Sharof Rakhmanov asserted that Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani International Anti-Corruption Excellence Award provides additional incentive to fight corruption and plays an important role in building integrity in the society.
In remarks to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency said when honest initiatives are recognized and supported, they create powerful mechanism for motivating members of the society and government officials to behave ethically; pointing out that awards serve not only as financial rewards, but also as a form of social recognition and respect and create a positive image among citizens, strengthen trust in institutions, increase the legitimacy of governments, in addition to serving as an example for others, creating a culture of zero tolerance for corruption.
Commenting on Uzbekistans hosting of the 7th edition of the honoring ceremony for winners of the award, HE the Deputy Mayor of Tashkent said the award creates a powerful incentive for government officials and public figures to effectively resist corruption, emphasizing that this will in turn lead to improvement in the investment climate, as fair business conditions will attract more foreign investment and help create favorable conditions for the sustainable and comprehensive development.
He highlighted that the fight against corruption also contributes to the efficient use of public resources, creating the basis for sustainable economic growth, pointing out that increasing the citizens trust in institutions and strengthening the rule of law will contribute to social stability and development of civil society.
Regarding the cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Uzbekistan, he said in recent years, Tashkent and Qatar have fostered collaborative efforts in diverse sectors, indicating that the cooperation between the two sides extends to investment ventures, real estate development, logistics initiatives and hospitality industry.
The cooperation agreement that was signed in June 2023 between Tashkent and Doha represents a significant milestone and solidifies their commitment to multifaceted collaboration, in addition to further reinforcing the ties between Uzbekistan and Qatar, he added, pointing out that the agreement encompasses various sectors, setting the stage for promising future directions in bilateral cooperation, including the continued growth of investments.
His Excellency added that Qatari companies such as Qatari Diar, Al Mirqab Capital and Aamal Holding are actively working on implementing large investment projects in Tashkent, pointing out that the participation of a delegation from Tashkent City Municipality in the International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha underscores their proactive approach to finding new avenues of cooperation with Qatari companies and reinforces the commitment to strengthening ties, in addition to exploring mutual beneficial opportunities between the two sides. He said that there are many perspectives for the Qatari business community to flourish and engage in fruitful business endeavors in the dynamic and growing market of Tashkent.
