Baku, June 23 (AzerTAc). Serbia leadership is interested in rapid development of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan in a variety of fields, visiting Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic told AzerTAc.
Serbian Minister expressed his satisfaction over successful development of Serbia-Azerbaijan relationship. Jeremic said Serbia had always supported Azerbaijan within international organizations. He said there is enormous potential for development of bilateral ties. Strong reciprocal support within international organizations lay groundwork for closer cooperation.
Jeremic expressed hope that his visit would an important step towards development of bilateral relations. Minister noted concrete steps will be taken to outline areas for cooperation in not only the political but also in other fields. Serbia and Azerbaijan will sign four agreements later in September in New York.
Serbian FM said he is satisfied with talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Mammadyarov, adding “we came to a decision on the need to expand successfully developing relations in the political field”.
Serbian Minister pointed out both Kosovo and Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts must be solved on the basis of international law.
“We came to the conclusion that borders should remain unchanged as they were recognized when both countries joined the UN”
Vuk Jeremic said peace and stability are very important in the 21st century. He noted Kosovo problem could have major implications for territorial integrity of countries across the world. Serbian government appealed to various instances because of this. “Thanks to Azerbaijan`s support we gained a victory on this issue during a voting in the United Nations General Assembly,” he said.
