FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022/ FIFA President: FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Was the Best World Cup Ever

Doha, December 20 (QNA) - President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino told beIN SPORTS in an interview on the latest World Cup's first year anniversary, "Well, the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 was, simply, the best [FIFA] World Cup ever."
The FIFA President said that the legacy that the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 gave the Arab world will last for generations to come, noting the wide praise that Qatar received for successfully hosting the tournament and providing football fans with an unparalleled edition.
Infantino added, "Happiness, joy, pride, fulfillment, everything that one can dream of when he thinks about the maximum that football can offer to the world happened in Qatar in 2022."
The FIFA President indicated that the tournament attracted 5 billion viewers from home, and around 3.5 million spectators in the stadiums, with more than 1.5 million people coming from all corners of the world specifically to attend the tournament, many of who were visiting the region for the first time. He added that hosting the World Cup in the Arab world, and specifically in Qatar for the first time, was a successful step, with fans enjoying the Arab world's generous hospitality and getting to learn about the local people's culture, experiencing an exciting atmosphere.
Infantino revealed, "You know, I attended all 64 games. So, for me as a football fan, this is already a dream. Well, it's actually more than a dream, something you could not even dream that came true and actually before, when I decided that I would like to attend all 64 games, I was a bit scared, because I said: ‘Well, maybe I will fall asleep during some of the games because it will be a lot.’ But actually not, because every game was very, very entertaining, but I think the climax was really the final."
Infantino concluded his interview by saying that it was wonderful for the tournament to encapsulate the struggle of a brilliant footballer such as Messi in his efforts together with his teammates, and their nation behind them to win the tournament and actually succeed in doing so, not forget, team France's outstanding performance with a lineup of the world's top players.
The final match held at Lusail Stadium on December 18, 2022, saw Argentina crowned world champion for the 3rd time, after one of the most amazing matches in the history of the World Cup, where the Argentine team, led by Lionel Messi, succeeded in defeating its French counterpart, the defending champion, on penalties after the end of extra time, following a draw with three goals for each team.
