AZERI PARLIAMENT`S SPEAKER MEETS SERBIAN FOREIGN MINISTER

Baku, June 23 (AzerTAc). Speaker of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis (Parliament) Ogtay Asadov met Tuesday with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic.
Asadov said reciprocal visits by the two countries officials contribute to boosting bilateral relationship. According to him, there are no obstacles to development of political and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
The Speaker noted his country attaches significant importance to deepening relations with South-Eastern European countries including Serbia.
He also underlined the importance of enhancing ties between the two countries` legislative bodies.
Asadov pointed out Azerbaijan considers that settlement of regional conflicts must be based on strict maintenance of territorial integrity of countries.
“It is not accidental that after Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia, Azerbaijan withdrew its peacekeepers from the region”, he added
The Speaker also praised Serbia`s backing the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
“We believe that the dispute will be resolved on the basis of the norms of international law”.
Vuk Jeremic, in his turn, said his country was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan.
He said Serbia unequivocally supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity, and that the country will not take a step back from its position.
