OIC Appreciates Saudi Arabia’s Methodology in the field of Human Rights
Cairo, December 26, 2023, SPA --The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) appreciated the methodology applied by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in preparing the human rights report in accordance with the directives of the Special Committee, affiliated to the Arab Commission of Human Rights.
This came in a speech delivered by the Executive Director of the OIC Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission, Noura Al-Rashoud, during the 22nd session of the Arab Charter for Human Rights Committee of the Arab League, which was dedicated to discussing the first periodic report submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
In a speech, Al-Rashoud expressed her appreciation for the initiative launched by the Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development with the aim of training and educating executives in the field of business to ensure protection against discrimination in line with the laws and regulations in force in Saudi Arabia that prohibit discrimination in the labor market.
She pointed out that the Independent Permanent Commission for Human Rights, affiliated to OIC, reviewed with great interest the Kingdom’s periodic report and concluded its comprehensiveness, explaining that the report covers a wide range of topics and also presents practical elements about the progress achieved, existing challenges, and available opportunities with regard to improving, promoting and protection of human rights in the Kingdom.
She explained that the Independent Permanent Commission for Human Rights noted the positive outlook that characterizes the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which includes long-term projects and programs that contribute to achieving qualitative and quantitative improvement in the field of development, including significantly improving living conditions and various services provided to citizens and residents, including health, educational, social, and economic services in many areas relevant to the human right to development.
Al-Rashoud also praised the great achievements made by the Kingdom in improving the literacy rate over the past years, which reached 99,5% among young people (15-24 years old). The Kingdom also continues to improve its educational system in all areas that positively affect the right to enjoy various human rights.
