Al-Jawfi affirms Yemeni keenness on supporting Somalia

SANA'A, June 23 (Saba) - Minister of Education Abdul-Salam al-Jawfi
affirmed on Tuesday Yemen's keenness on supporting Somalia in
various fields.

During his meeting with Somali Education Minister Abdullah Ahmed
Sheikh, al-Jawfi voiced the Ministry's readiness to cooperate with
the Somali side in printing the school curricula in Yemen,

The two ministers discussed the technical support Yemen will present
to the Somali side in field of training teachers, developing and
upgrading the curricula.

The two sides reviewed mechanisms of activating terms of the
agreement signed between the two ministries in the two countries
last year, which included presenting 150 scholarships a year in
field of education.

The Somali delegation was introduced to the Yemeni experience in
developing the curricula and building the human abilities of the
teachers in the different education areas to be availed from.

The Somali Minister briefed al-Jawfi on the education conditions in
Somali schools under the civil war, praising the Yemeni support to
Somalia in various fields and sheltering a big number of Somali
refugees.
