Bahrain's Ambassador to US participates in National Space Council Meeting

Washington, Dec. 24 (BNA): Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Ambassador of Bahrain to the United States, participated in the third National Space Council Meeting, chaired by Kamala Harris, Vice President of the US.

The meeting discussed expanding and strengthening the Artemis Accords coalition, signed by 33 countries with the aim of supporting sustainable and safe exploration of space.

It also discussed the potential and expansions of space activities, climate change, and the need to establish new international rules and norms for space exploration.

The ambassador highlighted the kingdom’s achievements in the space sector, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, which include joining the Artemis Accords, announced during the visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Washington in March 2022.

The Artemis Accords, in which Bahrain is represented by the National Space Science Authority (NSSA), provides a framework to develop cooperation opportunities between member states.
