A faking 'married couple' seeking US visa arrested

Chennai, June 23 (PTI) A couple from Gujarat, posing as
husband and wife were arrested here after they produced fake
documents to obtain US visas, police said Tuesday.

A broker who suggested them to pose as 'married couple'
was also arrested Monday, Joint Commissioner of police
(Mylapore) A G Mourya told PTI.

Imran Patel (27) and Sonal (33) had approached the US
consulate here as husband and wife seeking a tourist visa to
US.

US Consulate officials found that the duo had produced
fake bank documents and false certificates that showed they
were Ayurvedic practitioners, he said.

Later they were arrested and based on their information,
the broker, Altaf was picked up from a hotel, Mourya said.

To get the visa quickly, Patel and Sonal had claimed that
they were married, he said, adding all the three have been
remanded in judicial custody. PTI SA
