Doha, January 15 (QNA) - In their editorials on Monday, Qatari newspapers highlighted HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's meeting with chairman, vice-chairman and members of the Central Municipal Council (CMC) at the Amiri Diwan on Sunday, noting that the meeting affirms the wise leadership's belief of the importance of the CMC in enhancing national development and the values of effective participation in community service and contributing to achieving the goals of the Third National Development Strategy and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
The newspapers unanimously agreed that HH's continuous support for the CMC has a great impact on the advancement of its progress, and supports its members, each in their respective constituencies, to continue giving for the advancement and prosperity of the nation, since the council's opinions, as HH the Amir has affirmed, are valued and heard by all parties.
In its editorial titled "Enhancing Values of Participation", Al-Watan newspaper said that after a successful experience represented by electing members of the CMC, Qatar culminated the popular participation in decision-making with the Shura Council elections, which achieved an amazing success, in which Qataris presented a model for free and fair practice, and reflected a high level of awareness and great interaction among all people, as the primary motive for everyone was to serve the country and achieve the lofty goals of its advancement and progress.

The newspaper added that Qatar secured the ninth spot on the esteemed Global Electric Mobility Readiness Index (GEMRIX) 2023 by Arthur D Little, explaining that the index highlighted Qatar's alignment with its ambitious Qatar National Vision 2030. It also emphasized the nation's relentless pursuit of sustainable practices.
It pointed out that the Ministry of Transport is steadfast in its commitment to a fully electric public bus system by 2030, adding that the nation achieved its 2022 milestone, converting 25% of its public transit bus fleet to electric power.
