KSrelief Supervisor General Highlights Partnership with WHO at Launch of Health Emergency Appeal

Geneva, January 16, 2024, SPA -- Advisor at the Royal Court and Supervisor-General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah said that threats against civilians, especially children, women and the elderly, around the world have reached the highest level ever, as conflicts and disasters force millions to flee their homes and countries and render them incapable of securing their basic needs.
Speaking via video conference at the launch of the World Health Organization Health Emergency Appeal 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland, to support the health sector around the world, he said that the strategic partnership between the WHO and KSrelief has contributed to providing comprehensive relief to many people in need in times of health crises.
Dr. Al Rabeeah talked about the assistance provided by KSrelief since its establishment in 2015, including the 2,670 projects implemented in 95 countries at a total cost of over $6.5 billion, and said that KSrelief is working with WHO to carry out five other projects in three of WHO's regions.
He urged countries to take urgent action and involve the largest number of donors to save lives, to secure a healthier and brighter future for all.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths and several WHO representatives from around the world attended the launch.
