Qatar Participates in WHO 39th Meeting of Programme, Budget and Administration, 154th Session of Executive Board

 
Geneva, January 16 (QNA) - The State of Qatar is participating in the 39th Meeting of the Programme, Budget and Administration Committee of the Executive Board of the World Health Organization (WHO), which kicked off Tuesday and will run until Jan. 19 in Geneva. Qatar will also participate in the 154th session of the Executive Board of the WHO on Jan. 22–27 in Geneva. HE Minister of Public Health (MoPH) and Chair of the Executive Board of the WHO Dr. Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari chairs the delegation of the State of Qatar at the meetings. The 39th Meeting of the Programme, Budget and Administration Committee of the Executive Board of the WHO discusses numerous critical topics, chief amongst which are the Independent Expert Oversight Advisory Committee (IEOAC), funding and carrying out the Biennium Programme Budget for 2022-2023, the projections on funding the Biennium Programme Budget for 2024-2025, the fourteenth general program of work, as well as the Sustainable financing: WHO investment round. On the other hand, the meetings of the 154th session of the Executive Board of the WHO will review an array of critical topics, chiefly the report of the Director-general, the report of the regional committees submitted to the executive board, the board's report of the program, budget, and administration, report of the Standing Committee on Health Emergency Prevention, Preparedness, and Response, items of the first pillar: another billion people to benefit from universal health coverage, the universal health coverage, follow up on the political declaration emanated from the third high-level meeting of the General Assembly on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, draft plan of the global strategy on infection prevention and control, immunization agenda 2030, the End TB Strategy, as well as a road map for neglected tropical diseases 2021–2030. The meetings discuss scrambling for achieving the purposes of the sustainable development goals pertaining to maternal health, child mortality, and antimicrobial resistance through accelerating the national and global response, in addition to pillar 2: one billion more people better protected from health emergencies, the WHO operation in health emergencies, implementing the World Health Assembly's resolution WHA75.11 (2022), the Global Health and Peace Initiative, polio and smallpox eradication through the destruction of all smallpox samples. In addition, the meetings discuss pillar 3: one billion more people enjoying better health and well-being, which are the social determinants of health, comprehensive implementation plan on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition, in addition to items of Pillar 4: more effective and efficient WHO providing better support to countries which are budget and financial affairs, management and governance matters, the provisional agenda of the 77th World Health Assembly, determining the time and venue of the convention of the155th session of the Executive Board of the WHO, alongside the report of the meetings of the expert committees and study groups.
