AZERBAIJAN MILLI MAJLIS, LITHUANIAN SEIMAS SIGN DOCUMENT ON IMPLEMENTATION OF TWINNING PROJECT

Baku, June 24 (AzerTAc). Head of Azerbaijan Milli Majlis Administration Safa Mirzayev and Deputy Secretary General of the Lithuanian Seimas Gedeminas Aleksonis signed Wednesday a document on implementation of the European Union-funded Twinning Project.
During the event on the occassion, Safa Mirzayev said the project envisages bringing together the two countries` legislative process, enhancing effective cooperation with executive powers and other questions.
Mirzayev pointed out the project would contribute to expanding cooperation between the two countries` parliaments and conducting exchange of experience.
He also underscored “such projects will accelerate Azerbaijan`s integration into Europe”.
Gedeminas Aleksonis, in turn, said about 50 experts were involved in the implementation of the project which is to start in September this year.
He pointed out the project would play a significant role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries` legislative bodies even more.
Lithuanian ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Kudzmanas was present at the event.
