Saudi Arabia Takes Part in High Level Group of Integrated Geospatial Information Framework Meeting

Riyadh, January 25, 2024, SPA -- The General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information participated in the third meeting of the High-Level Group of the Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (HLG-IGIF) in Aguascalientes, Mexico, from January 22 to 26, 2024.
Heading the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's delegation was Dr. Mohammed Al Sayel, President of the authority and Chairman of the Arab committee of United Nations Experts on Geospatial Information Management. The meeting focused on discussing the strategic plan, priority goals, and the progress made in the team's work plan.
During an open discussion panel, Al Sayel presented the activities and achievements of the IGIF team within the Arab committee. He also reviewed the workshops related to the IGIF and highlighted key recommendations from the committee's tenth meeting.
The panel emphasized the challenges and opportunities for the Arab committee to enhance communication among member states and effectively implement the framework's strategic paths in alignment with each country's national interest.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, chairs the Arab Committee of United Nations Experts on Geospatial Information Management and serves as the committee's secretariat. The Kingdom holds membership in the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management.
