Derasat’ Director concludes visit to Japan

Tokyo, Jan. 30 (BNA): Dr. Omar Ahmad Al Ubaydli, Director of the Studies and Research Directorate at the Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) concluded a visit to Japan in January.

During his visit, Dr. Al Ubaydli met with Dr. Kayoko Tatsumi, a Research Fellow at the Canon Institute for Global Studies (CIGS).

They discussed cooperation in research specialisations such as the economy, international relations, and security.

Dr. Al Ubaydli also met with Koichi Nakagawa, Research Director and Chief Consultant at the Mitsubishi Research Institute (MRI) Middle East, during his visit to the institution.
They reviewed mutual interests in economic development, business opportunities, and regional dynamics in the Middle East.

Dr. Al Ubaydli also paid a visit to the Foreign Press Center Japan, where he showcased Derasat Centre's activities and programmes to Ambassador Kazuo Kodama, the President of the Japanese Center, and other officials.

He met with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, discussed regional dynamics in Asia and the Middle East, and explored potential areas of research collaboration. These exchanges contributed to a deeper understanding of the political and economic landscape in both regions.

The meetings with the Middle East Institute of Japan focused on the Middle East's geopolitical situation, economic developments, and cultural ties between Japan and the region. These engagements laid the groundwork for future partnerships between the Derasat Centre and the Middle East Institute of Japan.

Dr. Al Ubaydli also visited the Institute of Energy Economics, specialising in energy-related topics, including sustainable development, energy security, and the role of renewable energy sources. The exchange of expertise contributed to a comprehensive understanding of the energy landscape in Bahrain and Japan.

Engaging with the Japan Institute of International Affairs, Dr. Al Ubaydli discussed regional security and global developments, facilitating knowledge sharing and exploring potential avenues for collaboration in research and policy analysis.

Dr. Al Ubaydli met with the Nakasone Peace Institute, exploring potential research collaborations and exchanging insights on regional security challenges.

Dr. Al Ubaydli also visited the Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town, gaining insights into sustainable urban development and smart city initiatives. Additionally, visits and meetings were conducted with the Japan Cooperation Center Petroleum, the Tsukuba Space Center, the Global Zero Emission Research Center, and the Smart CO2 Utilisation Research Team, exploring potential collaboration in energy research, space exploration, achieving zero emissions, and developing sustainable solutions to address climate change.

Dr. Al Ubaydli's visit to Japan exemplifies Derasat Centre's dedication to building international partnerships and expanding its knowledge network on a global scale.
